Bernd Leno reveals Arsenal’s dressing room reaction after Shkodran Mustafi’s mistake vs Crystal Palace

Arsenal saw their Champions League hopes hit following a 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Sunday. Mustafi seemed to forget what he does for a living and allowed Wilfrid Zaha to skip past him and take the ball through on goal, slotting past Bernd Leno to put Palace back in front. Arsenal had kept six clean sheets in their previous seven games, but Mustafi’s presence in the starting line-up in place of the suspended Sokratis Papastathopoulos heralded the return of familiar defensive frailties. "It was very quiet [after the game], everybody was disappointed and frustrated because it was a big chance," the German goalkeeper told Goal. "But when the manager came in he said ‘no worries, it’s a disappointing result and a disappointing day but we have to look forward to the next game because qualification for the Champions League is still in our hands." When quizzed on whether Mustafi had personally apologised to him, Leno added: "No, we are one team. We win together and we lose together. It’s not that one player has to apologise for a mistake. "It was maybe a wrong decision for the second goal but you can’t change it. Mistakes happen. I think there was 30 minutes still to play so we had big time still to win the game."
