"Barcelona have 'seven new players' for next season", Josep Maria Bartomeu

Barcelona have "seven new players" for next season, that's according to club president Josep Maria Bartomeu. Spending at Camp Nou is likely to be significantly reduced this summer due to coronavirus crisis. Expensive signings unlikely unless swap deals can be made. Bartomeu told Mundo Deportivo: "We have seven new players. In January, Barca made a series of bets for the future and since we did so, people are seeing the quality they have. "Pedri, who is a young player with an incredible talent. [Francisco] Trincao who was very little known, we signed in January and he's now the best Under-21 player in Europe. "And Matheus Fernandes, who has played very little because he has had problems with his paperwork, he now has them sorted. He has had just a few appearances, but quality ones, with Valladolid. And [Miralem] Pjanic is a player who will come and will be consolidated in the first team from the first minute." None of those players have played yet for Barca's first team. "There's a lot of excitement about the players from Barca B who are coming up," Bartomeu said. "There's [Ronald] Araujo, a centre-back who will surely have a place in the first team [squad], plus Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati." Asked about the possibility of signing Neymar, Bartomeu added: "We are making decisions now and the players, if they don't come in exchange for other footballers, it's difficult for them to come." He also revealed conversations over striker Lautaro Martinez. "We have spoken with Inter," he said. "But the matter is currently at a standstill." Source: standard
