Barcelona chief Abidal makes Chelsea contact for Christensen

Initial enquiries from Barcelona sports director Eric Abidal for Chelsea player Andreas Christensen have been immediately rebuffed by Chelsea, as the club has told the player he must stay this season, according to Sport. The Denmark international is keen to get a move away after struggling to find a spot in Maurizio Sarri’s squad this season. Barcelona are seeking a defensive signing in January, however, the situation has alerted the club. Abidal has been informed there are no plans from Chelsea to allow any senior player to leave midseason.
