Ballon d'Or is the most anticipated award show in the footballing world. It's like the Oscars of footballing awards. The award takes place in France and it is handed by France Football to the best footballer of the year.
The Ballon D'Or 2023 took place on Monday, October 30, 2023 and Lionel Messi became the winner for a record 8th time.

Messi won the award, however, Erling Haaland came close to winning it following his staggering first season with Manchester City. In his first season, Haaland won the treble including Champions League, Premeir League and the FA Cup.
As the season continues, Messi joined MLS side Inter Miami and has been having an impressive season so far with the American side, meanwhile, Haaland continues to score goals and impresse the world of his goalscoring skills.
Haaland will surely be a favorite for the next year's Ballon d'Or as well despite the fact if he wins the prestigious award this year or no.
