Aymeric Laporte sends Liverpool Premier League title warning

Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte believes the Blues can still win the Premier League title this season in spite of being 11 points behind the leaders Liverpool. After the draw with Newcastle the Citizens dropped further behind Jurgen Klopp's side. The 25-year-old missed the City games since suffering a knee injury. His absence has impacted on the club's game a lot. Laporte, who hopes to return to the game in January, believes the Blues can overturn the points deficit. He told The National: "Yes, of course [City can win the title]. Last year was quite similar when [Liverpool] had a similar lead but we still have time this year to recover, to catch them and to again try to win the Premier League, so we hope we can do that. We need to make sure we work a lot and don’t lose any more games. I feel my importance to this team. Pep has given me all his confidence and I’m very happy for that. I believe in the team, I hope we can do many, many good things and this year win many trophies, just like last year.” City will face their next Premier League rivals, Burnley, on Wednesday before the Manchester derby at the end of the week.
