Aymeric Laporte puts time frame on his possible return from injury

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte hopes to return to the game in the next six to eight weeks as his recovery is going well. The centre-back had to miss the fixtures since picking up an injury during 4 - 0 win over Brighton in August. Vincent Kompany's quit as well as Laporte's absence hugely impacted on the Citizens' central defend. When the City boss Pep Guardiola was asked to give an update on Laporte's injury ahead of the Blues' game against Chelsea, he told: "Laporte and Sane are still injured for two or three months." However, the 25-year-old underwent surgery at the beginning of September and is likely to be back in winter. Laporte told The National he is targeting a return in January: "[My recovery] is going very well. Still, I need time but I hope as soon as possible I can come back and play with my teammates. I can’t say when exactly but more or less one month-and-a-half to two months." City are going to face Burnley in the Premier League on Tuesday before their Manchester derby on Saturday.
