Manchester United centre-back Axel Tuanzebe has sent message to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after being “chucked in” to a midfield role against Real Sociedad.
The 23-year-old was brought on for Fred as Solskjaer made changes for the second half of Thursday’s Europa League clash.
The Red Devils played a goalless draw yesterday night, however managed to qualify for the round 16, thanks to 4-0 win in the first leg.
Asked if he had known he would be playing in midfield, Tuanzebe told BT Sport: “No, it’s just somewhere where the gaffer chucked me in. He asked me to do a job and I did a job.”
He said he hadn’t even worked on playing in midfield in training, saying: “No, my natural position is centre-back, but if the gaffer wants me to fill in, then I’m all for it.
“”I’m a versatile player – I pride myself playing in the central defensive position, but it’s for the team, so it’s great we’ve got through.”
