Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier has undergone surgery as he suffered a groin injury earlier in January.
Former-Tottenham full back is set to miss the upcoming Champions League match against Liverpool at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Official statement says (via Daily Mail): “The operation went ahead without complications and the England international will now begin a recovery process involving physiotherapy and gym work.”
Trippier, who got injured during the final of Spain Supercup against Real Madrid, will likely miss the first match, but could be ready for the second leg.
Atletico Madrid will host Liverpool on February 18.
Meanwhile, Diego Simeone’s side has suffered a derby defeat from Real Madrid and is now only 6 in La Liga table.
