Manchester City have denied making a £78m offer for centre-back Jose Gimenez, despite allegations from Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo that they did. City have been unable to replace Vincent Kompany and Pep Guardiola is searching for a new player to partner Aymeric Laporte. 'We did receive the offer,' Cerezo told El Transistor. 'But Gimenez is a magnificent player and we are interested in having magnificent players in the team.' But, according to Daily Mail, City have registered an interest in Gimenez to Atletico but have made no formal bid. They are also surprised by Cerezo's remarks as they are not interested in signing anyone.
