AS Roma boss sends warning to Manchester United ahead of Europa League semi-final

AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has promised to attack Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side welcome the Serie A club to Old Trafford for the first leg of their Europa Lague semi-final tie. Ahead of Thursday's first leg, Fonseca admitted his side can't afford to sit and defend deep against United. “This semi-final with Manchester United is very important and I must stay entirely focused on a game that is too important for us," he told Football Italia. “It’s true that Manchester United are very dangerous on the counter-attack, but we must realise it’ll be really difficult if we go to Manchester and just defend. We need to keep the ball and make it difficult for them. The team must show character and not sit too deep.” Roma prepared for their trip to Old Trafford with a 3-2 defeat to Cagliari on Sunday night. United drew 0-0 with Leeds on their first visit since 2011. Roma are seventh in the Serie A table and haven't won a match since April 11.
