Arsene Wenger set to take new managerial job

Arsene Wenger has become No 1 target for the Japan FA as they look for a new national manager. The Frenchman is highly respected in Japan as he worked there with considerable success in the mid-1990s at Nagoya Grampus Eight. The former Arsenal manager had been linked with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain but Madrid now have new boss  - Julen Lopetegui. Several clubs from China are also linked with Wenger. Japan team manager Vahid Halilhodzic, the man who took them to the World Cup finals in Russia, was sacked just two months before the tournament. Japan now want to bring in Wenger on a long-term basis. Wenger has always said his preference is for club football but his affection for Japan could persuade him to make his venture into the international arena.
