Arsenal’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan fails to win Armenia best player of the year award

Armenia Football Federation has summed up the results of poll for the “Best Player of the Year” nomination. Surprisingly Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan failed to win the award though he won it previously for eight times (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014,  2015, 2016, 2017). Mkhitaryan is second (119 points) behind Brazilian-born Armenian footballer Marcos Pizzelli (171 points) who is the captain for FC Aktobe and plays for the Armenia national team. However, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is first in the top five European leagues since August 2015 (for Borussia Dortmund vs Borussia Mönchengladbach). The midfielder has scored as many Premier League goals for Arsenal in 25 games as he did for Man Utd in 39 (5 goals). Mkhitaryan helped his national team in crucial matches not a single time and the reason of less points than expected remains unknown.
