Arsenal to offer new deal to midfielder who was set to leave

Arsenal are preparing to offer Granit Xhaka a new contract this summer, after Roma failed to make a suitable transfer offer. The Swiss captain's current deal was signed in 2018 and he still has 2 years remaining in his contract. Xhaka was open for transfer this summer, even though he was always happy to stay. The Gunners were reportedly asking for €20million from Jose Mourinho's Roma, yet the fee appears to have been too high. However, the player returned to London Colney last week and is training currently.
