Arsenal suffer transfer blow as goalkeeper target nears Schalke move

Arsenal have been reportedly interested in signing Dynamo Dresden goalkeeper Markus Schubert as a replacement for Petr Cech.

The young goalkeeper is a free agent after deciding not to extend his contract with the German 2nd division side.

With Petr Cech retiring and David Ospina on his way to make his loan deal permanent at Napoli, Unai Emery will be in need of a back up goalkeeper.

Although, Arsenal were believed to be in talk with Schubert, the Mail reports that the Gunners are set to miss out on the 21 year old as he has decided to join Bundesliga side Schalke.
