Gabriel Magalhaes is close to regaining his fitness and is likely to play in Arsenal's Premier League match against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The centre-back had been doubtful for the game after injuring his ankle during the club's meeting with Chelsea earlier in the week. Mikel Arteta had expressed uncertainty about Gabriel's availability during a press conference on Friday.
However, according to Goal journalist Charles Watts, the Brazilian is expected to feature in the clash, which is crucial for Arsenal's position in the league. With William Saliba still injured, Arteta would have had only two fit centre-backs, Rob Holding and Jakub Kiwior, to choose from if Gabriel was unable to play.
