Arsenal to rival Manchester United for £44.5m target ahead of transfer deadline

Thursday’s transfer deadline is very close but Arsenal still are ready to join the race for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng. Despite the busy summer, there still could be another addition over the next few days. Sead Kolasinac is set to face 10 weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury, while midfielder Steven N'Zonzi continues to be linked with a move from Sevilla so Arsenal appear to be in need of a new left-back. However, reports from Germany claim that they are looking for a new centre-back. Boateng, who is contracted to the German club until 2021, is valued €50m (£44.6m). Reportedly, United's executive vice-chairman, has spoken to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern's CEO over Boateng’s future transfer but nothing concrete has done.
