Arsenal missed out on Diogo Jota

Arsenal have attempted to sign Diogo Jota in 2016, however, the Gunners failed to secure his signature. The Portuguese star opted to join Atletico Madrid instead, according to The Athletic. West Ham were also interested in the Portuguese attacker at the time but he opted to join Diego Simeone's side, where he failed to make a single competitive appearance. Jota said: “Atletico’s way of presenting their offer seemed serious to me. The financial offer was the same as the others. I liked how the club’s owner went about it.” However, Jota has failed to impress for the Spanish club and he was loaned out to Porto in 2016 and spent the following season at Wolves. There, he scored 18 goals in 46 games. In the summer transfer window, Jota signed a contract with Premier League champions Liverpool. He has since made 11 appearances, scoring seven goals.
