Arsenal make Premier League request for Tottenham London derby

Arsenal have made a request to the Premier League to have Sunday's North London Derby postponed with a decision due on Saturday. Mikel Arteta's side have injuries, suspension and a single Covid case in Martin Odegaard to deal with which could leave them short of numbers for the match on Sunday afternoon. According to football.london, Tottenham are surprised at the request from their north London rivals without a Covid outbreak at Arsenal. The Premier League said in a statement:
"The Premier League has received a postponement request from Arsenal FC relating to their away match against Tottenham Hotspur, due to be played at 4.30pm on Sunday 16 January.   "The Premier League Board will meet tomorrow to review the application and inform both clubs and their fans of its decision."
A statement from Arsenal added:
"We have reluctantly taken this step but we have many players currently unavailable across our squad as a result of Covid, injuries and players away with their countries at AFCON."
