Arsenal have been handed a huge blow in their chase of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates during the summer, however, Gunners eventually decided to bring in Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
Aouar was said to be worth around £55million in the summer, and Arsenal might be able to finally get him due to a recent boost at the expense of the midfielder's current club Lyon.
The Ligue 1 side confirmed on Wednesday that a combination in the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and a shortfall from TV rights has seen them lose almost £96million.
Almost every club has felt the pinch from the pandemic, but some less than others, and Arsenal could take advantage by signing Aouar this summer, offering Lyon a cash boost they might just need.
