Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke and technical director Edu have reportedly decided to sack Mikel Arteta later this year if the team is still in mid-table in the Premier League.
The Gunners were knocked out of the Europa League this week, and are at risk of finishing in the bottom half of the table this season.
But according to
The Sun, Arteta's job at the Emirates is safe - for now. Arsenal's board will sanction a big-money spending spree this summer in order to improve the squad for next season.
However if Arsenal are still languishing in mid-table at the end of the year, club officials will take part ways with the former midfielder. Both Edu and Kroenke are apparently convinced that he's the right man to lead the club going forward.
