Mikel Arteta has claimed that Bernd Leno should be disappointed about losing his place in the Arsenal team to Aaron Ramsdale.
The latter has kept a clean sheet in the Gunners' 1-0 win over Norwich City last weekend, while Leno played in the opening three games, where the north London team lost.
And Arteta has a big decision to make for Saturday's trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley.
Arsenal boss spoke about why competition is good for the team and why Leno should be disappointed about being dropped.
"It’s the same in every position," Arteta said. "We want them to make each other better. We are competing against the opponent, we are not competing against each other here.
"We are just trying to bring players that can raise the level of the player that is playing the position, the level of the team, the level of the club. This is the only reason.
"Obviously for Bernd it wasn’t a pleasing communication when I told him that he wasn’t playing. But he’s a top professional and a top person.
"He should be disappointed and he should support his teammates like they all have with him every time he’s played. That’s exactly what he’s done."
