Arsenal are 'getting closer' to securing the services of Kai Havertz, one of their top targets, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Negotiations between Chelsea and Arsenal have been underway for some weeks already, with Mikel Arteta's side keen to bring the Blues' German striker to the Emirates Stadium. In spite of a discouraging initial £75m asking price, it is understood that a new £65m valuation was accepted by both sides to seal the deal. As per the Italian journalist, the striker will pass his medicals in the coming days.
Havertz has been one of the players in Chelsea to receive harsh criticism by club supporters on frequent occasions. Although the Germany international had a strong start at the club with a Champions League final goal, his inconsistent form causes distress and disappointment.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were also interested in Havertz, but the former was unwilling to land the player for Chelsea's asking price, considering it too high. As for Bayern, Tuchel and Havertz have been in a good relationship in Chelsea and it is no wonder that the German manager would like to have the 24-year-old Allianz Arena.
