The Armenia international Aras Ozbiliz, who is now on-loan at Willem II from Besiktas, has revealed how injury wrecked a move to Manchester United.
Ozbilis, 28, recalled the Red Devils were keen when he was impressing with Spartak Moscow in Russia.
He told Elf Voetbal: “I got quite big in Russia and scouts from Manchester United came to watch me. But unfortunately, I could not impress due to a severe knee injury. I had to rehabilitate for a long time and when I was fit again, I had to leave the club."
Aras Ozibilis’ national team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved to Manchester United in the same year back in 2016.
Ozbilis made 35 appearances for Spartak Moscow and scored three goals.
