Antonio Conte explains why he chose Gollini over Lloris in Chelsea game

Tottenham suffered a 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday night. The Blues have qualified for the final having celebrated a 3-0 on aggregate victory over Spurs. Antonio Rudiger scored the only goal of the game at 18′. After the game Spurs boss Antonio Conte was asked about starting Pierluigi Gollini over captain Hugo Lloris in between the sticks. The Italian explained:

"Before my arrival at Tottenham, Pierluigi has always played in Carabao and the Conference League. I think when you’re in a team like Tottenham, it’s important also to give chances to the keeper because the keeper, Pierluigi, showed to be reliable.   "Then we have to play three games in seven days against Arsenal, Leicester and Chelsea again. I think that he deserved to have this chance and to play an important game."
