Antonio Conte agrees with Jose Mourinho on Tottenham problem which was predicted by Mauricio Pochettino

Antonio Conte seems to agree with Jose Mourinho that there is a lot of work needs to be done at Tottenham, which was a problem predicted by Mauricio Pochettino. Spurs suffered a surprise Europa Conference League blow on Thursday as they lost 2-1 to NS Mura, thanks to a last second winning goal. Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino led his side to the Champions League final back in 2019 after a Lucas Moura hattrick got them through the semi-final. The penultimate game was against Ajax who Spurs lost 1-0 to in the first leg and just days before that defeat, the Argentine explained an analogy that identified a big Tottenham problem.
"When you talk about Tottenham, everyone says you have an amazing house but you need to put in the furniture," Pochettino said.   "If you want to have a lovely house maybe you need better furniture, and it depends on your budget if you are going to spend money.   "It’s about creating another chapter and to have the clear idea of how we are going to build that new project. We need to rebuild. It's going to be painful."
Earlier this year when Tottenham drew 2-2 to Newcastle at St James' Park, Pochettino's successor Jose Mourinho gave a harsh verdict about his side.
"Many of these white hairs come from things I'm not used to seeing in football matches at this level," the Portuguese manager said.   "The Premier League is high-level, and when in some actions you don’t show that you belong to that level, it’s difficult."
A mixture of performances already so far this season was further shown in the 2-1 defeat vs Mura on Thursday, with a number of players being given the opportunity to impress, but they failed miserably. Following the game in Slovenia, current Spurs boss Conte didn't hold back in expressing his thoughts about his new side.
"It is not simple because in this moment because for sure the level of Tottenham is not so high," Conte said. "There is an important gap to the top teams in England.   "For sure we need players with the right mentality and with the quality, players that deserve to play for Tottenham and aspire to be competitive, to fight for this shirt, to win something.   "It doesn’t mean that we have to change a lot. I’m ready to do what the club want to do, but now, the situation is very clear.   "I want to tell you that I have found a great commitment, a great ability and there is the will, the desire to improve but now more time has passed and I’m making my evaluations directly, not through the TV or through other persons, but directly, and for sure, we need to improve a lot to reduce the gap with the top teams because now I think that this gap is an important gap."
It seems many things need to change and Conte will have the next six or so weeks to work with his current players and make thorough evaluations on who can make the required improvements and who needs to make their move away. Source - football.london Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
