Angel Gomes reveals why Manchester United teammates had been giving him stick in training

Manchester United academy graduate Angel Gomes scored a goal in a pre-season friendly victory over Tottenham and put his name up in lights. Andreas Pereira’s assists and Gomes’ goal continued the record of an academy graduate being involved in all nine goals United have scored on tour. "I got a bit of stick, a few academy players have scored and I hadn't so it was good to score in the last game," he told MUTV. Gomes said the youngsters on tour were proud of their contribution to the record. "It shows what the club is trying to do, we’re trying to bring youth players through, the stats are amazing, we’re proud of that," he said to MUTV. “We’ve had a great tour, the team has gelled well, we can’t wait for the season to get started."
