Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has claimed Xherdan Shaqiri is a nightmare to face in training, calling him a "little magician".
Lonergan hasn't played in a single game for the Reds, though the club boss Jurgen Klopp has praised him for his contribution during the training. Now as the keeper is leaving Anfield, after deciding not to extend his contract, he has opened up on his time at Melwood, sharing praise for Shaqiri.
Speaking about the Swiss professional, he told
Liverpool Echo:
"The one I really don’t like facing is Shaqiri. When he’s shooting, he can do whatever he wants with that left foot.
I’m always thinking when we’re doing five-a-side, ‘Please be on my team,’ because if he’s against you, he’s a little magician with his finishing.’"
