Former Arsenal striker Andy Cole says he isn't sure of the direction Mikel Arteta is leading his team after their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday. The result left Arsenal in ninth place in the Premier League table and nine points off the top four with eight games left to play. "I’m not sure, I’m not quite sure where Arsenal are going to be brutally honest," Cole told talkSPORT. "I’m looking at them yesterday, they never laid a glove on Liverpool, considering Liverpool’s form has previously been so bad, you thought Arsenal would’ve had a right go at them, try and win the game being the home team. In the end, Liverpool were so comfortable it was unbelievable." Cole suggested that Pierre Emerick Aubameyang playing so deep hindered his ability to help the Arsenal attack. "Aubameyang, I think he signed his new contract to play as a left-back," he added. "Because yesterday that’s all he was doing, following Trent Alexander-Arnold up and down the left side. And then you’re taking away from what he’s supposed to be giving Arsenal which is goals, creativity to help [Alexandre] Lacazette up front. I saw nothing yesterday, I’m not quite sure where Arsenal are going."
