Andres Iniesta makes Liverpool Champions League claim

Liverpool are having a quite good season as they are on top of the Premier League with a 7 points gap from current champions manchester City, who are 3rd in the league. In the matchday of 21, Manchester City will host Liverpool and if they lose, the 7 points gap will turn to be 10. Ahead of the important clash, Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has backed Liverpool to go far in this season's Champions League, and take on the financial muscle of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. (via Mirror) When asked by Sport if Barca can win the Champions League for the first time since he lifted it in 2015, Iniesta said: "I always think they can. "They're ambitious and with aspirations to win everything. After that, there are moments when things can go better or worse. "This team deserves more Champions Leagues than they have won. I hope this season they take the step forward which has been lacking in recent years. "I always think that the champions are worthy winners. We can like or not like a way of doing things, but to say a team doesn't deserve to win such an important competition is complicated. "We've lacked a little to be closer in previous campaigns and I am confident that this time it will be different." Iniesta was then asked if he felt City or PSG's financial power will see them be Barca's main rivals. "It's difficult to think that some day they won't come close in the Champions League," he said. "The teams they have, their squads, the investments, the coaches... they should be fighting for the trophy. "I always want to add Liverpool, who are looking good this year. The problem with the Champions League is that it's a really tough tournament. One bad day can knock you out."
