Manchester United is nearing reaching an agreement with Inter Milan as per Gazetta dello Sport, hinting at priority target Andre Onana's signing at Old Trafford.
Manchester United representatives reportedly met with Inter Milan's sporting director Piero Ausilio yesterday and agreed on a deal. The clubs have decided to resolve the situation within the week, which can mean that the new signing can be finalized and announced as early as this week. The Italian giants are in dire need of a financial boost, so to avoid further sanctions from UEFA, after being fined €4m last summer for breaches of FFP.
A new goalkeeper is established as a top priority for the team. The future of David de Gea at Old Trafford seems increasingly uncertain, especially after it was revealed that the club withdrew a contract offer that had previously been accepted by the Spanish goalkeeper. As Erik ten Hag prepares to return to the training pitch in July, the presence of André Onana at United's training camp would be highly appreciated, particularly if De Gea ends up leaving.
Onana and ten Hag have a shared history, having enjoyed success together at Ajax. Furthermore, Onana is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world when it comes to his comfort with the ball at his feet. This makes him the ideal candidate to assist Ten Hag in implementing a more progressive style of football at Manchester United.
