Alan Shearer said that Tottenham Hotspur duo Dele Alli and Carlos Vinicius proved a point against Maine. The Newcastle United legend was impressed by the performances of midfielder Alli and forward Vinicius in the first half of the FA Cup third-round tie on Sunday evening.

Vinicius scored a hat-trick for Spurs in their 5-0 win. Alli, meanwhile, provided an assist and played well in the middle of the park.

Shearer said: “The two players we mentioned before the game who have to prove a point have proved it, Dele Alli and Vinicius.”

Alli and Vinicius have been fringe players at Tottenham so far this season, and the run-out against Marine will have certainly boosted their confidence.
