Ajax player is no longer a priority for Liverpool and Manchester United

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ajax defender Jurrien Timber has impaired his place on the list of priorities for Liverpool and Manchester United.

Although both clubs are looking to improve their midfield by signing skilled midfielders from the global football market, there are some more pressing signings for the teams to address foremostly. Jurgen Klopp's plans of improving the squad still involves the need to bring in more midfielders, despite the recent big signing of Alexis Mac-Allister. As for the Red Devils, Erik ten Hag's main priority remains to bring a new striker to Old Trafford.

In an exclusive interview with CaughtOffSide, Romano shared his insights on both clubs and where the Dutch defender stands in their plans for the future.

In an "interesting situation" with Manchester United, Timber was close to being signed last year, until the club changed strategy and signed Lisandro. “So it was impossible to sign two players in the same position from the same club. So let’s see if they will decide to return,” added the football journalist.

As for Liverpool's interest, Romano said: “At the moment I heard of different names they like so at the moment, it’s not something concrete for Liverpool". As far as its known, the Reds are looking for a center-back and the Italian presumes that ten Hag's side will go for a left-footed one, when given the opportunity.

To conclude, Romano added: “So we have to see what kind of opportunities there will be. We know their focus is on the midfield and importantly how much would be the asking price because yes, today Timber spoke and said he still doesn’t know what kind of future he will have at Ajax but it’s also true that he’s under contract for two more years until summer 2025.”
