5 Arsenal players who may have no future under Unai Emery

Arsene Wenger’s legendary era at Arsenal came to an end in May of 2018, after a 22-year reign. For the dawn of a new era, Arsenal spent the eve of the season stretching their legs inside an empty Emirates Stadium. It is an unusual measure for the players to train on the pitch reserved for match day rather than at the sanctuary of their London Colney base in the Hertfordshire countryside. It is always tempting in football to read too far ahead, to interpret out of a few moves or even minutes of match lessons projected far into the future. Especially with a club like Arsenal, in the midst of change, when every little event and detail is grasped as the moment when one stage ends and the next begins. Over the coming year, Emery will want to bring in more of his own players and this may see a number of high profile names exit the club. Here are five Arsenal players who may have no future under Unai Emery and are at risk of being sold in the next 12 months. Nacho Monreal Monreal has been a regular fixture under Emery since he took over the club, as Sead Kolasinac suffered a serious knee injury on the eve of the season. However, Emery is targeting another left-back. The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and can begin talking to clubs about a free transfer in January. The Spain international had been linked with a move back to La Liga during the summer transfer window, with Real Sociedad one of the teams reportedly interested in the full-back. Petr Cech Petr Cech now looks set to have lost his place to new signing Bernd Leno. Emery simply can't trust the Czech goalkeeper due to his error strung displays, and his inability to play the ball out from the back. The goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the season, so he will most likely move on to seek a final challenge. Laurent Koscielny Laurent Koscielny was a favourite of Arsene Wenger, however, Sokratis was signed in the summer and Arsenal also have younger options at centre-back such as Holding and Mustafi. Koscielny recently retired from international duty and he will now find it difficult to break back into the Arsenal first team. Reports this week stated that Emery would not stand in Koscielny's way if he chooses to move on, so a return to France at the end of the season may suit all parties. Aaron Ramsey Arsenal recently withdrew a contract extension that Ramsey thought had been agreed upon. This means that the 27-year-old will almost certainly leave Arsenal at the end of the current campaign. Ramsey will, of course, have no trouble finding a new club, and he will command a huge salary due to his lack of price tag. Mesut Ozil Ozil has visibly shown his disappointment at being subbed and Ozil has publicly told Emery that he wants to play the number 10 role rather than play out wide. Due to this, the talented playmaker is being linked to a move to Turkey, which is a country that is close to his roots. If Emery decides that Ozil is indeed anathema to his approach then the thought of recouping a sizeable transfer fee will also appeal to a head coach.
