4 Leicester City players affected by big FIFA decision

Football's governing body have decided to change the dates of the Premier League campaign due to the coronavirus outbreak. Yet, the season could be under threat to be cancelled because of the pandemic.  FIFA’s new plan may have a huge impact on some player's future, including four Leicester City players that are nearing their contract extensions in summer.  Wes Morgan, Christian Fuchs, Papy Mendy and Eldin Jakupovic will be out of contract, however, they will possibly wait for their exit until all of the matches of the 2019-20 season could be played. The Foxes defensive duo Morgan and Fuchs were in talks with the club over their one-year contract extensions before the games were suspended due to Covid-19. It is likely that the deals will materialise regarding the situation.  Mendy is expected to leave King Power Stadium, with the midfielder eager to play more regular football.  While the club boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to have three goalkeepers in the squad, third-choice keeper Jakupovic will be ready to quit the team in search for more playing time. The Bosnia-born player has made just four first-team appearances in three years with the Foxes.  Meanwhile, Leicester also have their two loan players Andy King and George Thomas out of contract this summer, along with a number of Under-23s players like centre-back Sam Hughes. All of them are likely to be similarly affected. It is possible that on-loan centre-back Ryan Bennett will sign a permanent deal with the Foxes as well.  Source: Leicestershire Live
