The 2022 World Cup in Qatar to affect Manchester United and Manchester City

The next FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar during the winter months and will impact Manchester United and Manchester City schedule. According to Daily Mail, the Premier League have drawn up plans that would see matches taking place on Boxing Day just 8 days after the final has been revealed. The campaign would start a week earlier and finish a week later to account the disruption of the World Cup. The Premier League teams have been aware of the proposals and the reaction is believed to have been positive. However, UEFA has previously confirmed that any decisions in regards to the scheduling of European competition will not be made until 2021. The 2022 World Cup has been switched to winter due to the intense temperatures of up to 40C which usually happens in Qatar during the summer.
