What Luis Suarez said ahead of facing Liverpool in Champions League

Luis Suarez is hopeful his recent meeting with former club Liverpool doesn't follow the same pattern. The Uruguay international with his then team Barcelona, suffered a 4-0 defeat at the Anfield, after 3-0 win at Camp Nou and got kicked out of the Champions League, which they eventually won. Suarez was jeered every time he touched the ball on his return to Merseyside, for the manner in which he had celebrated his goal in the first leg. Speaking on Liverpool's website shortly after the Reds had won the Premier League title in 2020, Suarez said:
"I know some Liverpool supporters were angry with me because I celebrated a goal against Liverpool here in Camp Nou and for that I am so sad.   "I accept that and I say that hopefully they understand my situation: we were playing at home and in the Champions League semi-final.   "I lived one of the best moments of my life there and I think the supporters didn’t forget how my attitude was in the Liverpool shirt.   "Now hopefully they are so happy with the Premier League trophy this year."
Suarez will face the Reds again in Tuesday night's Champions League clash in Madrid. Source - Mirror Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
