Alan Shearer has shared their high praise for Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope following the club's game with Arsenal.
The Magpies played a goalless draw with the Premier League leaders Arsenal to share the points at the Emirates Stadium.
Pope played a key role in the club's latest game as the opponents couldn't break his defensive wall throughout the game.
“Very pleased, they put a shift in tonight those Newcastle players,” Shearer said on Premier League Productions.
“They defended really well. They had to rely on the magnificent Nick Pope again. He didn’t have a lot to do, but when he was asked to make one superb save, he did that. That’s the only time they got through that Newcastle back four.
“What a signing he has been for Newcastle. The number of times he has done this. When the team have managed to get through that defence, then you need your keeper. You need to rely on your keeper, at times. That makes the difference between good and very good goalkeepers."
Newcastle are now sitting in 3rd place in the Premier League table with 35 points. Their next opponents will be Sheffield Wednesday at FA Cup third round.
