Wesley Fofana thanks Crystal Palace for ‘wonderful’ gesture after Leicester City win

Leicester City recorded their third win in nine days in all competitions on Monday night as they came out as 2-1 winners against Crystal Palace. Wilfried Zaha opened the scoring already in the 12th minute, however, Timothy Castagne's equaliser and Kelechi Iheanacho's winner handed Foxes the three points. Defender Wesley Fofana played the full 90 minutes of the match, despite currently fasting for Ramadan. The French U21 international was taken off in the second half in the 3-0 win over West Brom on Thursday, with Brendan Rodgers explaining how he wanted to protect the player. “It was just one where I thought if I could get him off then he could get some food into him on the bench, and just protect him a little bit,” he said after the game against the Baggies. “I’ve worked with lots of players with devotion to their faiths and for a lot of the guys it gives them strength. He’s finding an incredible strength to play continuously and train during Ramadan. He’s a special talent and a big player for us.” Yesterday’s game against Palace was a much tighter affair, meaning that a change may have not been possible. The centre-back was however helped by what he describes as ‘what makes football wonderful.’ In the first half, Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita held up play when in possession of the ball to allow Fofana to go to the sidelines and break his fast by taking liquids on board. And the player showed his appreciation to his opponents, and teammates, by taking to social media after the game. “Just wanted to thank the @premierleague as well as @CPFC , @vguaita13 all the Foxes for allowing me to break my fast tonight in the middle of the game. That's what makes football wonderful,” he tweeted. Source- LeicestershireLive Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
