Weightlifter accuses her coach of sexual harassment and files a lawsuit

Georgian weightlifter Tatia Lortkipanidze accuses her own coach of the women’s team in sexual harassment and discrimination. Lortikpanidze claims, she was left out of Georgia squad for European Championship because of personal disagreement between herself and Temur Janjgava. “It’s very hard for me to talk about this, but there was huge pressure on me. He was accusing me of being pregnant, which was outraging for me. I didn’t know what to do, he would ask me very disturbing questions. Once I even asked him to leave the room,” said Lortikpanidze. The Head coach of the Georgian team, Giorgi Asanidze denied her words and said, that she was not able to participate in the championship as she hadn’t attended meetings and her attitude was not acceptable. The weightlifter’s father, former parliamentary MP Dimitri Lortkipanidze said that it was an example of classical nepotism, involving Giorgi Asanidze and Temur Janjghava. Lortkipanidze announced on Friday, May 2 that she is set to file a lawsuit against the coach and The Union "Safar" will protect her interests. European Championship was held in Batumi on April 6-13. Tatia Lortkipanidze has missed this championship, she will also be out of the 2020 Olympics. Source- radiotavisupleba.ge
