Virgil van Dijk has sent a message to his former Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane after the latest fitness news.
The Senegal international will miss the upcoming World Cup 2022 after picking up a serious injury against Bundesliga side Werder Bremen earlier this month.
“I am very sorry that Sadio misses the match against us because this World Cup simply deserves the best players, Sadio is one of them," Van Dijk said, via Anfield Watch.
The Reds' defender shared his high praise for Mane and his qualities both as a player and a person.
"Sadio is world-class, he is my friend and I will miss him," he added.
