Unai Emery speaks out on Denis Suarez ahead of Newcastle game: Press Conference

Arsenal welcome Newcastle to the capital on Monday as they look to tighten their grip on a top-four finish. Ahead of the game, Arsenal boss Unai Emery has faced the press. Emery has spoken out on Arsenal’s return to action: “We are coming back after the international break, after our trip away to Dubai. For us the most important thing is starting to speak about Newcastle. We started this morning training, speaking about that. We worked very well before in the Premier League and Europa League. “We need and must be in the same spirit to play against Newcastle. I think with a very big atmosphere to help us together. We can be strong.” The Arsenal boss has issued an injury update on players. “We trained this morning and some players rested for giving them one day more to train with us tomorrow. Aaron Ramsey, Dinos Mavropanos. They can be ready for Monday,” he said. “Xhaka also rested today, we’re going to wait tomorrow and Sunday but the first previews from the doctor is that he can progress to be ready for Monday. We trained this morning and some players rested for giving them one day more to train with us tomorrow. Emery has spoken out on momentum: “We have the habit to play three matches in a week, when we are doing that the players are very focused on preparing, resting and playing. When we are taking international breaks we can rest other players. In this break we decided to go away to train four days and play one match. It’s the same spirit: don’t stop, keep moving forward, training with the young players in Dubai. Today we meet everybody to focus on Monday. The players and I have this habit to play a lot of matches in one week.We have the habit to play three matches in a week, when we are doing that the players are very focused on preparing, resting and playing. When we are taking international breaks we can rest other players.” The Spaniard has spoken out on new-signing Denis Suarez. "I think he is OK for starting in the first eleven, to give us this impact. I think now our focus is collectively a very strong focus to help, in 90 minutes, 30 minutes or one minute. We are going to need everybody, every player for the next matches,” Emery said. “Now we have a lot of players ready, with a big mentality with a big performance to play and help us. For me like that, we can be stronger, more competitive for taking the big performance, with Denis or with another player.” Emery doesn’t agree that Arsenal have the easiest run-in: “ Each day, each match, for us and them, is very important. Thirty-eight matches give us [the chance] to be competitive, to play consistently. Now we are taking as a big performance as Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham. Now it’s very important and I trust in us. I know we need to do a lot to be in the top four. I know Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are going to win a lot of points between this match and the last.” However, Emery sure Arsenal have impressive home form. “It’s not my thought now, because I know Monday’s match is going to be very difficult. Newcastle are in a good moment,” the Spaniard said. “They have a lot good players and good organisation. The coach has a lot of experience and he is very competitive and I know that. The last matches they are playing, they are playing with a big confidence and very strong defensively and very competitive. My focus is on how we can break their defensive positions and also a big performance for us to take a win against them.” At the end of the press conference, Unai Emery answered to question regarding squad adaptation on his ideas. “We are in our process but our process is giving us, all the time, better combinations with the players and better combinations tactically. We are playing different systems with different players and we are taking a big performance with them,” said Emery. “I have a lot of confidence in us and our players, but I know Monday’s game is giving us a big challenge against them. I know we are strong at home but we need to continue working like we are doing and also keep moving forward with a big ambition and big atmosphere in our stadium. “I want to create each match this atmosphere to show them our best performance with our system and tactical plan. Every match is a big challenge for us.”
