UEFA respond to Arsenal star Henrikh Mkhitaryan's decision to miss Europa League final

Earlier today, Arsenal officially announced that Mkhitaryan won't be travelling to Baku as the Gunners are preparing to play there Europa League final against Chelsea on May 29. And afterwards, UEFA responded to Henrikh Mkhitaryan's decision to miss Europa League final. UEFA insist that they and the final organisers had "received assurances... from the highest authorities in the country". A statement from the governing body released to football.london said: "Working alongside Arsenal FC, UEFA sought and received assurances regarding the player's safety in Azerbaijan from the highest authorities in the country. "As a result of these guarantees, a comprehensive security plan was developed and given to the club. While the club acknowledges the efforts that UEFA and the Azeri government have gone to in this matter, we respect the personal decision not to travel with the player."
