Manchester City's Ederson and Gabriel Jesus will be unavailable against the weekend's Premier League match against Leicester City after the Brazilian Football Association asked world football’s governing body to enforce rules preventing players from playing.
According to the Times journalist Paul Joyce, automatic restrictions under Fifa’s regulations will cover September 10-14, which means the City duo will be eligible to play versus RB Leipzig in the Champions League next Wednesday.
If the Premier League clubs affected by the "five-day rule" decide to ignore the rules and include the selected players in the fixture squads, then under Article 22 of Fifa’s disciplinary code they could forfeit the match 3-0.
