Tottenham will offer Dele Alli a new long-term contract worth around £40m in a bid to keep the midfielder at White Hart Lane and away from Real Madrid, according to the Daily Mirror.
The contract – a third in 16 months – would see the 21-year-old’s wages double, putting him on par with the club’s top earners.
Alli, who has netted 16 times from 31 league appearance so far this campaign, is attracting interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, with Los Blancos reportedly prepared to break their £85.5m club transfer record to land the England international.
But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wants the club, who currently sit just four points behind leaders Chelsea, to have a team to compete with the best in the world and Levy will move to keep the current squad together.
