Tottenham receive transfer boost in their pursuit of Milan Skriniar

Tottenham have received a transfer boost in their pursuit of Milan Skriniar. Spurs boss Jose Mouringo is eager to improve the squad by bringing new defensive options, and Inter Milan centre-back is one of the club's main targets for the summer transfer window. Speaking on a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast, sports journalist Fabrizio Romano discussed the Lilywhites' potential transfer for the defender. He said: “[Tottenham] met with Inter, but also with Skriniar’s agents, and what Skriniar [said] to Tottenham is, ‘yes, I want to go to the Premier League. So, if you find an agreement with Inter, my personal terms will not be an issue.’ “So, we can consider that Skriniar is the [main] target for Tottenham. I expect them, before the weekend, to make a new bid to Inter, but I think Inter will not sell him on Monday. “They [will] need to find another centre-back if they sell Skriniar, so, it will not be a last-minute move, in my opinion. “So, pay attention [over] the weekend, on Saturday, for example, for the Milan [and] Skriniar situation.” Later, Athletic journalist Charlie Eccleshare revealed he would not be surprised if a deal for the centre-back gets materialised. “What we’ve been told from the very start is that the two clubs are coming at it from very different positions, valuation-wise. Inter were holding out for up to around €60 million, Tottenham wanted to pay a lot less than that. “Tottenham, ideally, from what I was told, wanted to get him on a loan and then have an option to buy, not even an obligation. So, you are talking about two very different starting points for the negotiations, which is why they’ve been dragging on. “I am also told that Inter are really struggling financially, so I think there is a hope that that can be preyed on a little bit. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was done and that would suddenly make this a pretty mega transfer window. “Yeah, I can imagine it happening,” he said.
