Tottenham in talks for two center-backs as club ace's future points to La Liga

Atletico Madrid have initiated discussions for the potential signing of Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer.

Manager Diego Simeone is impressed with the Danish international's qualities and has urged the board to explore the possibility of a transfer.

Reports from Daily Mail Sport indicate that Hojbjerg, who desires Champions League football, sees the La Liga outfit as an attractive destination due to their participation in the prestigious competition.

In addition to Atletico, the 27-year-old has also attracted interest from his former club, Bayern Munich. Although Spurs are currently reluctant to entertain offers for the ace, there is a chance that the midfielder could depart from the club during this transfer window.

Since joining the North Londoners from Southampton in 2020, Hojbjerg has been a key figure in the squad, featuring prominently under both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

He has made 145 appearances for the club, helping his side reach the League Cup final in 2021.

Furthermore, as per information provided by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive article on CaughtOffside Substack, Tottenham are currently engaged in negotiations for two center-backs. The club's intentions regarding whether they will acquire both players or prioritize the one with more favorable terms remain unclear.

"The next days are going to be important for Tottenham and their pursuit of a new center-back."

"I’m told Tapsoba remains the top target, and he has always been super appreciated. The deal depends on Bayer Leverkusen’s decision on the final price tag but Spurs still want Tapsoba."

"Also, there’s a chance for Hojbjerg to leave, and it’s true that Atletico like him." Romano stated.
