Tottenham and Everton contact Manchester United over loanee CENTER-BACK: Monday reports

Tottenham and Everton have contacted Manchester United over Chris Smalling, as reported Italian media (via Daily Mail). 30-year-old center back has moved to Roma on loan deal last summer and has become one of the best defenders in Serie A.  Despite his influence on Roma, there are two obstacles that can make England international return to MU after this campaign.  Serie A side have rejected paying £20 m for Smalling’s permanent. And even if they agree to meet the demanded price, the player himself would not consider staying in Roma, as the club could be without the Champions League next season.  With the presence of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelef, it is unlikely that Smalling will have a place in the starting lineup for Manchester United, which means he could consider a move to Liverpool or North London.  Juventus are also interested in signing the center back.
