Top Five Reasons Why Real Madrid Remained Passive in Transfer Market

Real Madrid have always been the main newsmaker during summer breaks as they have always been recruiting star players with incredible price. This year, unlike to previous ones, Real Madrid is too passive in transfer market despite imminent FIFA ban, as they have only brought back Alvaro Morata from Juventus, Marco Asensio from Espanyol and Fabio Cannavaro from Monaco. We are going to give 5 reasons of the Spanish superclub’s aberrant transfer behavior.

  1. Don’t change the winning team

during the UEFA Champions League Final match between Real Madrid and Club Atletico de Madrid at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on May 28, 2016 in Milan, Italy.

Real Madrid have won Champions league for the second time in three years. This is something to be proud of. A widely accepted expression in sports says, that you shouldn’t change the winning squad. If a team can successfully play in the hardest tournament and win it, is there a need to break the balance and bring new players to the team? New players will instead create dissonance and will need time to adapt, but Real Madrid don’t know what is waiting. They require results here and now, and keeping the victorious squad is the best way to reach this goal.

  1. Complete team

It may seem arguable, but Real Madrid have a complete squad at the moment. If they lacked some attacking power last season and had some troubles in left hand side of the defense when Benzema or Marcelo were out, now Zidane has Coentrao and Morata for the backup. In all other positions Los Blancos have at least two high quality players.

  1. Zidane’s veto

Zinedine Zidane didn't request any signing

It’s not a secret that Real Madrid were chasing Andre Gomes who then moved to Barcelona. Everything pointed that the Portuguese will join his national team partners Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe in Madrid, but Barcelona beat their strongest rivals in the race to sign the midfielder. However, Spanish media reports, that Zinedine Zidane was the main reason for Gomes’s Real Madrid transfer breakdown. For buying the Valencia man, the Champions league winners had to sell either Isco or James, but the French coach put a veto on both players’ exit. His cogent word was enough for Florentino Perez.

  1. Lack of extraordinary players on market and high price tags

Football world is going crazy, as we see multi-million deals almost every week. It’s not a surprise, that transfer fees have gone up in recent years, and even an ordinary player can cost almost 30-40 million euros. It’s enough to look at Paul Pogba’s price, as Juventus demand 140 m euros for him. For example, one of the best players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo, joined Real Madrid for 94 m euros, which was a record breaker, by the way. Moreover, there are very few extraordinary players available on the market. Sign an intermediate player for big money? It’s surely not Perez’s style.

  1. They have already got their Galactico

Morata Real Madrid's new galactico

In reality, Real Madrid have already signed their Galactico this summer. We are talking about Alvaro Morata. Spain national team striker spent two good seasons in Juventus and was taken back for a bargain price: 30 m euros. However, he is a man of incredible talent and has the potential to rise into a superstar. Premier League giants like Chelsea and Arsenal are ready to pay 70-80 million euros for him, but the Whites have rejected all offers so far. Morata’s play during Euro 2016 finally persuaded Florentino’s board to keep their academy product, who is also fans’ favorite.
