Chelsea were a reasonably consistent club for most of their history. They won six Premier League titles, eight FA Cups, 5 League Cups, Champions League and Europa League titles.
They had many good centre-back throughout their history but Chelsea have selected the best five of the best centre-backs of the past 20 years.
John Terry
If we are talking about the best Chelsea centre-backs, than the first name that coming to our mind is John Terry. He is the most successful captain in Chelsea's history. Terry won it all during his 19 seasons at the club, lifting 14 trophies. He made 717 appearances for Chelsea and surpassed only Ron Harris and Peter Bonetti. Terry scored 67 goals for Chelsea.
Marcel Desailly
"The Rock" joined Chelsea in 1998 and became an influential figure at the club. His goal in our 2–1 win against Liverpool in 2003 helped the Blues qualify for the Champions League. He also played a big role in the development of his young partner in defence, John Terry. Desailly made more than 219 appearances for the club and scored seven goals.
Ricardo Carvalho
Carvalho joined Chelsea in 2004 from Porto. He was an integral part of Chelsea’s defence for six seasons, winning three Premier League titles and forming a formidable partnership with John Terry. The first of those titles in 2004/05 saw the Blues concede only 15 goals. Carvalho made more than 203 appearances and scored 11 goals.
Gary Cahill
Cahill made 270 appearances for the club and scored 25 goals. He enjoyed a hugely successful seven-and-a-half season spell at Stamford Bridge, winning eight trophies with the club and being selected to the PFA Team of the Year on three occasions. He also came back from injury to play in our 2012 Champions League triumph, and he was a key man in Chelsea's defence when they lifted the Premier League trophy in 2015 and 2017.
Antonio Rudiger
Rudiger joined Chelsea from Roma in 2017. He helped Cahill in Chelsea's 2018 FA Cup success. He also won a Europa League title with the club. Rudiger has made 105 appearances for Chelsea and has scored six goals.
