TOP 10 Central Midfielders in the Premier League 2018/19 season

The 27th Premier League season is due to start on Friday 10 August 2018. Manchester City are the defending champions. Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cardiff City and Fulham joined as the promoted clubs from the 2017-18 EFL Championship. The transfer window for Premier League clubs opened in June and there is now just a few hours to go before it closes. Clubs have been strengthening their squads ahead of the new season and one of the areas in the central midfield. Here are Top 10 Central midfielders of the Premier League this season with the random order. Who is the best will decide vote.

Kevin De Bryune

Manchester City’s Kevin De Bryune has reached new heights in his career last season. The 26-year-old is a mastermind, who sees things that others don’t. His passes, spatial awareness, movement, shooting and control are exceptional. De Bryune ended last season with 18 assists, more than anyone else in the Premier League.

N’Golo Kante

Kante might not score 30-yard screamers or be in any danger of setting Premier League to assist records, but he works very hard. Kante's focus is always on the defensive side of the game and keeping the balance in the team. N’Golo Kante was “to Shy” to ask to hold the World Cup after France’s 4-2 final victory.

David Silva

David Silva’s style of football is often described as magical. His vision and speed of thought and also the tricks he uses, when dribbling the ball past opposition players, is a pleasure to see on the field. His left foot has been described as a wand to unlock defences. In Manchester City they call him Merlin!

Fernandinho

Either Guardiola has worked his wizardry and turned Fernandinho into the perfect midfield pivot for his system, or just knew that the Brazilian was suitable for the job. Fernandinho is like the anchor that the rest of the Manchester City team revolves around.

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba is one of the most gifted players on the planet. Supreme athleticism, precocious skill, devastating power-he’s got the lot. When the Frenchman picks the ball up in midfield the opposition know what coming- is trouble. Pogba is capable of slaloming through challenges, picking a defence-splitting pass or unleashing a piledriver.

Naby Keita

Keita’s been described as a heady mix of N’Golo Kante and Andres Iniesta and been talked up as one of the world’s best players. Keita is deceptively strong on the ball, possessing fine balance and core strength.

Fabinho

Fabinho’s role in that side was to play the part of the interceptor in front of the back four, snuffing out attacking moves thorough strong positional play and winning back the ball. Another string to Fabinho’s bow is that he is an excellent penalty taker.

Jorginho

Jorginho has signed for Chelsea in this summer transfer window with reuniting with his former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri. Playing in a deeper role in midfield and with an excellent passing range that allows him to dictate the tempo, Jorginho has drawn comparisons with Pirlo and Xavi.

Mousa Dembele

There are certain players who amble around the football pitch with grace and poise, almost as if they are the general of the battalion, overlooking the troops. They stride with an air of dominance, casting other players as inferior in stature and importance. Dembele is one such player.

Mateo Kovacic

Chelsea sign Mateo Kovacic on loan from Real Madrid. New Blue boss Maurizio Sarri is an advocate of attacking, passing the football and likes to play a midfield three who are fluid and can rotate positions. Kovacic would suit that perfectly. He is mobile, attack-minded and very comfortable dribbling with the ball. He has a great passing range and skills on the ball to boot.
